Top-40 Shooting Guard Adolph 'Junior' County Commits for 2026-27 Season
(From media reports)
Adolph 'Junior' County, a top-40, 4-star 6-5 combo guard committed to play for the National Flag Blue and White as a freshman in 2026.

County, one of the top-five shooting guards in the 2026 class, chose the Huskies over a final list that also included Arizona, Indiana, Maryland and Purdue. "It was the feeling I got while watching practice, talking to [coach Dan] Hurley and going around campus," County told ESPN . "I believe I'll be able to develop and grow into the best version of myself while I'm there." A consensus 4-star talent, County only lacks the explosive athleticism and shot-creation ability that separate the very top players in his class.

Hurley's trademark coaching style appealed to County. "We have a great relationship and I love the intensity," he said. "I think that's why he's able to get the best out of his players every day."

Playing for Wasatch Academy (Utah), County is ranked No. 43 in ESPN's 'SC Next 100' (next year) and is the No. 4 shooting guard. What stands out about County is his scoring versatility, along with his consistent intensity. Wasatch has produced some of the nation’s best talent, including Collin Murray-Boyles of the Toronto Raptors, Isiah Harwell from Houston, John Mobley from Ohio State, Mady Sissoko from Cal, Nolan Hickman from Gonzaga.
County averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists for the Utah Prospects on the Nike EYBL circuit last spring and summer, including a pair of 20-point outings and two games in which he knocked down four 3-pointers. "I think I'll be able to make winning plays on both ends of the floor," he said. "They see me being able to make those winning plays on and off the ball."

In 2024, he participated in the 2024 Men's U17 National Team training camp (June 15-17) in Colorado Springs, Colorado and attended the 2024 Men's Junior National Team April minicamp in Phoenix, Arizona.
With a big frame at the guard position it makes him the kind of asset that has brought UConn success in the past. In 2024-25, UConn was lacking the size on the perimeter that made past rosters for the program, headlined by the likes of Stephon Castle and Andre Jackson Jr., so dominant. “If you look at what we’re doing in recruiting, we are looking for bigger guards” said head Coach Dan Hurley. “The difference between how we were with those big guards [is] the ability to throw the lobs, spray it out to the three-point line, finish at the rim or get fouled.”
Per 247Sports’ director of scouting, Adam Finkelstein, “County is strong and physical with long arms and loads of winning intangibles. While he’s a versatile scoring threat and capable of creating his own shot from all three levels, he understands how to play within the flow, move the ball, and keep the dominos falling when the opposing defense is scrambling (3.4 assists with 2.1 turnovers). That requires both unselfishness and a high basketball IQ. Similarly, he throws ahead in transition, makes quick/simple reads with the ball, cuts well, and just knows how to play in offensive structure.”
